Case Study – Olam Cotton

olamlogoWhen Olam Cotton ($500+ million subsidiary of the multi-$billion, global agri-business leader, Olam International) decided to create a new brand identity and all collateral materials for their cotton cooperative, Liberty Coop, they chose The Magolnick Media Company as their partner.

The challenge for TMMC was very much in the timing of the project and diverse set of deliverables.

Discussion started in mid-December with the first deliverables due before Christmas eve. After that, the most pressing need was to prepare the company for its first appearance at a major trade show under the new cooperative brand. The overall goal of the effort was to create a robust identity that felt familiar but also offered the impression of a fresh company moving forward.

When we started, we simply had an idea for a name and from that we developed a professional and progressive logo as well as several logo design elements such as bullet point buttons that can be used to compliment the logo throughout all online and offline brand identity pieces. We also started with the initial brand message. The goal of the message was to come up with something simple and honest that identified well with the members and potential cooperative members.

The suite of initial deliverables for Olam’s cooperative (Liberty Agricultural Cooperative Association) includes online, offline, social, and mobile.

We started with securing the domain name and setting up the website hosting account. Then we developed a fully mobile responsive website with a member portal and admin CMS that we based in WordPress for easy administrative and content management. We also created a custom PowerPoint template that the company could use to build presentations with the new identity.

Offline:
After designing the logo and the strategy for the Liberty Coop brand message, we designed a series of business cards, a ½ page full color print ad, a full-color brochure, and a tradeshow display system that included two 30” stand-up banners and an 8’ pop up display graphic.

Social:
We set up the Facebook page and Twitter account, connected them and tied them in with the new website for optimal monetization.
